Inter conceded three times inside the opening half-hour, and a late consolation from Zlatan Ibrahimovic was never enough.

"I cannot explain that opening half-hour," Mourinho said after the game.

"Normally I like to talk about the merits of my opponents when my team loses, but this time we played so badly I'd prefer to say we gave them the result with an unspeakable first 40 minutes.

"We conceded ridiculous goals. This week I shall stay quiet, there is nothing to say. We made too many mistakes and paid the price."

Nevertheless, the Portuguese chose to take the blame for the Nerazzurri's second defeat this term.

"In any case, I don't want to accuse anyone in particular. I am the face of this side and so I am to blame" he added.

"I prefer to speak badly about myself rather than say how my players, individually, made horrible mistakes."
