“Scans showed that Ashour’s injury is much better now,” Mahmoud told Ahli’s official website.

“He will start light trainings on Wednesday and hopefully by Friday he will be training with the rest of the team.”

The injury forced Ashour to miss his team’s crucial double fixture against Harras Hodoud in the league and the Egyptian Cup, as well as the Cairo derby against Zamalek.

In his absence, Ahmed Fathi and Moetaz Eno were given the nod to start in Ahli’s midfield against both Zamalek and Hodoud.
