Mido and Bruce worked together at Wigan

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce said that he is pleased with Mido’s first display for the club, adding that the 26-year-old is definitely a great addition to his squad.

Mido, who had his Wigan debut against Liverpool on Wednesday, marked his performance by scoring an 81st minute penalty to earn the Latics a valuable draw.

“Everybody knows Mido’s got a wonderful talent and I hope he can come here and just play football and enjoy it,” Bruce was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

"He certainly looked like he enjoyed it - he can't remember the last time he played 90 minutes,"

Fruitful replacements

Bruce, who already lost striker Emile Heskey and playmaker Wilson Palacios during the current transfer window, said that he’s content with the current team he has.

Mido and Hugo Rodallega were both brought in to fill the void left by the departures, and the latter was unlucky to see a last gasp effort hit the bar on Wednesday.

"It has been a difficult January for us. But we've made a few changes, and a couple of them have hit the ground running.

"If Rodallega would have stuck that one in at the death it would have been a wonderful start for us but it's very, very pleasing to see both players start like that."
