Babbel took over the Bundesliga side in November, but the Association demanded that the former should obtain a coaching license before carrying on his work at the club.

"We have to put some red lines that shouldn’t be crossed by anyone. Babbel should undertake the regular 11-month course before taking the license," DFB official Franck Vermot said.

Stuttgart appealed the Association’s demand and asked for Babbel to undergo an intensive three-month course to be given the license, but DFB officials rejected the appeal.

"Anyone willing to coach a Bundesliga side needs to be qualified enough."

"Before, people were asking us to develop our coaching system, but now they want us to disregard its rules," added Vermot.
