Luiz Felipe Scolari, who was relieved of his duty as Chelsea manager on Monday, was planning to bring Inter hitman Adriano to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Despite having a good start to Chelsea's season, the Brazilian coach was given the sack after failing to keep the Blues on an even keel over the past months.

According to agent Gilmar Rinaldi, the 62-year-old tactician was targeting Adriano, who has been suffering a turbulent spell with the Nerazzurri this term.

"Scolari really wanted Adriano," The Player's agent told Radio Kiss Kiss.

Rinaldi revealed that Scolari held talks with Inter, saying the former Brazil coach wouldn't have talked the Serie A giants into letting their striker go.

"We spoke about him many times but mainly he talked to Inter sporting director Marco Branca," Rinaldi explained.

"In the end they decided together that they would allow Adriano to stay at Inter."

The 26-year-old marksman fell out with his coach Jose Mourinho more than once, as the latter refuses to tolerate apathy.

Adriano, who lives his life to the full, was far from being punctual this season, as he showed up late for some training sessions and was repeatedly snubbed as a result.

He also took part in several sessions while being intoxicated, which worsened his status and reputation even more.
