Wigan Athletic striker Amr Zaki called on his fans in Egypt not to impulsively render judgments on his Premier League adventure.

The well-built hitman had a brilliant start to the current season with the Latics, having scored ten goals in the elite competition thus far.

However, his dazzling form has been recently deteriorated, which raised questions about his future with the Premiership club.

"I didn't score in the last few Premier League matches, but that doesn't necessarily mean I failed," Zaki said after Egypt's 2-2 draw with Ghana "My supporters need to be more patient."

Zaki, who joined Wigan from Zamalek last summer on an extendable loan deal, is undisputedly his team's top scorer so far this term.

"How come I failed whereas I trail high-profile stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Robinho only by one goal? This is my first season in England and I reckon that I did good," he elaborated.

"Some players might stay on bench for six months or so till they make their Premiership debut.

"But I have taken part in 99% of Wigan's games this term, and I have become their top scorer."

Ghana Friendly

When asked about Egypt's friendly against Ghana, Zaki described the match as 'pulsating', saying it was a good test for the six-time African champions.

"We wasted so many opportunities throughout the first half, and we eased up a bit on several occasions," he commented.

"But after all, I can say that the game was beneficial to us. We faced strong opponents today and I think the draw was a reasonable result."
