Real Madrid eased to a comfortable 4-0 away win over Sporting Gijon in the Primera Liga on Sunday, and hitman Raul set a new scoring record.

The Spanish veteran broke Alfredo di Stefano's record upon hitting a brace to take his tally to 309 goals with Real.

Raul stroked in Sergio Ramos' cross 15 minutes after the kick-off.

Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar netted his first goal for Real after going one-on-one with Inaki Lafuente.

Left-back Marcelo was released by Gonzalo Higuain's deft back-heel pass to go clear on a counter attack, and the Brazilian ace chipped home with aplomb seconds before the interval.

On 86 Minutes, Sporting's Lafuente blunder paved the way for Raul to notch his second goal, when the former let Higuain's shot squirm through his legs.

Juande Ramos' side now lie second with 50 points, trailing leaders Barcelona, who were held to a 2-2 away draw with Real Betis, by ten.
