Voronin could leave Liverpool

Bundesliga leaders Hertha Berlin are keen to sign on-loan Liverpool striker Andrei Voronin on a permanent basis in the summer.

The 29-year-old Ukrainian left the Reds' bench to lead Hertha to top spot in Germany, courtesy of a brace past defending champions Bayern Munich in last weekend's 2-1 win.

Consequently, Voronin, who had a fine spell with Bayer Leverkusen before moving to Anfield in 2007, is tipped to extend his stint in Berlin.

"There is a willingness on both sides to further continue," Hertha team director Dieter Hoeness was quoted by Bild.

"We value Andrei's performances very much - his goals, presence and experience.

"He also says Hertha are his top priority because he feels very happy with us and in Berlin. Now we have to look for solutions together."

Voronin's arrival at Liverpool was coupled by the record signing of Spanish marksman Fernando Torres, which made it difficult for the former to get a regular spot.

However, after Robbie Keane was offloaded to Tottenham this winter, Reds Rafa Benitez would think twice before selling Voronin to Hertha.
