Al-Tayeb to join Zamalek?

Zamalek are interested in signing Libyan playmaker Tarek Al-Tayeb from Hilal, according to a Saudi report.

Al-Madina newspaper claimed that the White Knights have opened talks with Al-Tayeb over a possible move in the summer.

It also stated that former Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas has agreed to finance the deal.

Cairo duo Zamalek and Ahli made no secret of their desire to acquire the services of Al-Tayeb on several occasions during the past few years.

The crisis-hit Zamalek, who are enduring one of their worst runs in the Egyptian Premier League, struggled to fill in for their former star Hazem Emam since his retirement last summer.

The likes of Mohamed Aboul-Ella, Gamal Hamza, Mahmoud Samir and Alaa Kamal failed to impress as playmakers.

Al-Tayeb, 32, has been playing for Saudi giants Hilal since 2006 after leaving Turkish side Gaziantepspor.
