Ahmed Hassan said on Sunday he was not concerned at being frequently substituted by Ahli coach Manuel Jose as long as fans applaud him.

"I perform well and the fans applaud me and chant my name, so I have no problems," he told Ahli TV following the team's 3-0 Champions League victory over Tanzania's Young Africans.

The veteran midfielder put in some impressive displays lately but was always replaced in the second half.

Reports said that he was unhappy with Jose's actions and that he was considering leaving Ahli in the summer.

But Hassan, who left the pitch during Ahli's comfortable win over Young Africans with a smile on his face, said those reports were groundless.

"I'm fed up with all talks saying that I'm unhappy at Ahli. I've to respect the technical staff's decisions," he added.

Ahli assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri highlighted the 'important' role the Egypt skipper plays within the team.

"Hassan always gives us solutions because he can play in many positions. His fighting spirit is also a huge asset for the team," he said.
