The win takes The Blues's tally to 64 points, one point less than Premiership leaders Manchester United.

Shearer, who took over Newcastle on Tuesday, has an uphill climb in order to save The Magpies from relegation.

Newcastle are now eighteenth in the league table with 29 points.
