Bayern skipper Van Bommel was quoted on Monday as saying that Ribery 'wants to join Barca', amid speculation of the Catalans' interest in his services.

However, Horwick set the record straight that the Dutchman's quotes were misinterpreted by Spanish media.

"Van Bommel tried to give an interview in Spanish, but what he meant to say is not what was interpreted," the Bayern official told reporters.

"He was asked if he thought Ribery was good enough to play for Barcelona and he said that he felt he was.

"I would ask that all the online reports in the Spanish media claiming the contrary be removed."

The Ribery-Barcelona talk comes ahead of Bayern's meeting with the Blaugrana in the Champions League on Tuesday.
