Juventus have offered Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro a four-year contract starting from next season, Italian press reported.

The 35-year-old will be out of contract in the summer, and Real directors are not willing to extend his stay at Santiago Bernabeu.

Cannavaro played some of his best ever football at Juventus between 2004 and 2006.

According to Italian papers, The Old Lady want to bring Canna back to Serie A, and they offered him a one-year deal as a player with the possibility to extend it as either a director or a player.

The former Inter Milan man has earlier expressed a desire to hang up his boots following the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

News that a contract was offered to Cannavaro was not met by warm welcome from the Juventus faithful, who are still angry at the way the player left the club.

Cannavaro was one of some heavy weight players, who fled Juventus following the club's relegation in the aftermath of the Calciopoli scandal in 2006.
