Gattuso is keen to return to fitness on time to take part of Italy's FIFA Confederations Cup campaign, where the World champions will face Egypt in the competition's Group B.

The Italian international joined his club teammates in Tuesday's session, but Milan's medical staff preferred not to field him in full-contact exercises.

The 31-year-old's return comes earlier than expected, as he was previously told this season will be over for him.
