With one round to go, the Red Devils secured the Premiership title after a goalless home draw against Arsenal to level Liverpool's all-time record of 18 league wins.

"It'll make it more special when we are in front of them [Liverpool]. Next year we are going for it again," Ferguson told Sky Sports after the Arsenal game.

The Scotsman, who guided United to eleven league trophies since he took over the club in 1986, said that he never expected to match Liverpool's record.

"It was the target to match Liverpool because they were the greatest side in the land.

"But I never thought we could get 11 titles - never in a million years."

At 67 years of age, and after over 20 years working at Old Trafford, Ferguson said that he has no plans of retiring from the game.

"I'm not contemplating it. I'll carry on. I'm going to stay as a manager and my health will tell me when to quit," he concluded.
