Egypt captain Ahmed Hassan accompanied Mohamed Abou-Treika, Ahmed Fathi, Sayed Moawad and Wael Gomaa to the hospital where Gamal underwent a cruciate ligament surgery on Wednesday.

"Omar is a decent and respectful person and we all wish him rapid recovery," Hassan told FilGoal.com on his Egypt mate.

"It is a friendly gesture for the intention of fighting against hostile rivalry.

"The fans must know that we (players) are friends inside and outside the pitch. It doesn’t matter which club we belong to as long as we all serve the national team."

The viciousness between Ahli and Ismaili supporters has been consistently sloping upwards in recent years, despite attempts from both clubs' officials to clear the air.

The bitter rivals are currently vying for the Egyptian Premier League title as they play their respective games in the final day on Wednesday, tied on 67 points.
