Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho assured winger Ricardo Quaresma that he has a future at San Siro, despite a sloppy maiden season.

Quaresma, who joined Inter from Porto last summer, failed to make an impact with the Nerazzurri and was accordingly loaned out to Chelsea in January.

But the 26-year-old Portuguese's spell in London was by no means better as he hardly featured for the Blues. Nonetheless, Mourinho has given his compatriot a lifeline.

"I expect Quaresma to return to us and to do so with a completely different attitude," the Inter boss told Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

"I think he will be able to do what he was unable to in his first months at the club."

Easier

Mourinho, who helped Inter win the Serie A title this season, indicated that leading a winning team is much easier in England.

The former Chelsea boss believes that top clubs in the Premiership are stronger than their counterparts in Italy, including his own side.

"It is much easier to win in England than in Italy," said Mourinho, who led the Blues to two Premiership titles during his reign.

"Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are better than Inter, Milan and Juventus but below that there is much more strength in the Italian League.

"We didn't win the Champions League because we weren't as good a unit as Barcelona, Manchester United or Chelsea. We were part of the second group with teams like Arsenal, Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Porto."
