Gaish goalkeeper Garib Hafez admitted that his team were aiming to deny Ahli the Egyptian Premier League title.

The military side slumped to a sensational 3-1 defeat to the Red Devils on Wednesday in the League conclusion, to keep the title hanging in the balance for several more days.

Ahli's quest to retain the domestic title for a fifth year running would have doomed to failure if they had either lost or drawn.

"We were trying to demolish Ahli's title chances, for us it would have been a historic feat," Garib said after the game.

"Everyone remembers Ahli's defeat against ENPPI in 2003, which prevented them from claiming the title at the time. Today we were trying to pull off a similar result or even better.

"we have every right to seek victory, and we could have registered a good result if it wasn't for the referee, who was clearly biased against us."

The referee Kamal Risha was accused of making a lot of mistakes in the game and earning Ahli an undeserved win.

Ahli will face Ismaili in a league decider on March 24th at Max Stadium.
