Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath wished Werder Bremen had won the UEFA Cup before meeting his side in their final Bundesliga game.

Bremen lost to Ukraine's Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 after extra time in Wednesday's UEFA Cup final.

They travel to Wolfsburg, who need at least a draw to claim their first ever league title, in the season finale on Saturday.

"I would have preferred it if Bremen had won the UEFA Cup final against Shakhtar," Magath told Wolfsburg official website.

"Maybe then Werder would be coming to Wolfsburg as a satisfied team. Satisfied players sometimes don't perform at the same level as those who are dissatisfied."

Bremen's inspirational playmaker Diego, who is linked with a move to Juventus in the close season, missed the UEFA Cup final through suspension.

He will return to lead his side against Wolfsburg at Volkswagen Arena.

"Werder have a fantastic offence and with Diego they are really unpredictable," Magath added.

"With that in mind, it could be quite a tough game in which we will have to take it to the limit one last time."

Wolfsburg are on top of the Bundesliga table on 66 points, two ahead of defending champions Bayern Munich and Stuttgart.
