Yoann Gourcuff said he wants to extend his stay at Bordeaux after being named Player of the Year in France this season.

The 22-year-old midfielder joined from Milan on a one-year loan and has inspired the French side to go three points clear at the top of the table with one match remaining.

Gourcuff received the award from France great Zinedine Zidane then said he doesn't want to return to Serie A next season.

"As for me, I would like to stay with Bordeaux next season. I am very happy here," Gourcuff told reporters.

Gourcuff credited Bordeaux manager Laurent Blanc for his great form this season.

"Blanc called me when I wasn't playing at Milan and I found here a system that suits my game," he added.

Yet, Gourcuff's desire might face some resistance from Milan after Vice-chairman Adriano Galliani said he wants to see the French international back in Italy.

Gourcuff's goal against PSG was also chosen the best in the league this season.
