عبد الحميد

Error-prone keeper Amir Abdul-Hamid has been included in Ahli's squad for the CAF Confederation Cup game at Angola's Santos on Sunday.

Abdul-Hamid hasn't been named in the Red Devils' squad since the 2-2 draw with Petrojet in the Egyptian Premier League on February 22nd.

The 30-year-old, who became Ahli's regular goalie for a while after Essam Al-Hadari's notorious move to Sion, came under fire for his recurring blunders throughout the season.

Abdul-Hamid got injured and put in another lackluster performance in the draw with the Petroleum side, and hasn't featured for the Cairo giants ever since.

Meanwhile, Ramzi Saleh, who was also picked for the Santos visit, has been regularly standing between the sticks for almost three months, and he was by far more consistent than Abdul-Hamid.

Sayed Mowad, Wael Gomaa and Mohamed Abou-Treika will miss the trip to Angola.

The influential trio are taking part in Egypt's preparatory camp ahead of the Pharaohs' friendly with Oman and World Cup qualifier against Algeria.

Frontline duo Hani Al-Egeizi and Ahmed Hassan Farag were both chosen in the 18-man list that only includes three defenders.

Ahli are widely expected to ease to the Confederation Cup quarter-finals, given that they battered minnows Santos 3-0 in the first leg.

The game is going to mark Manuel Jose's successful stint at Ahli, as he's going to take charge of the Angolan national team starting next month.
