The win was Bremen's best way to make up for the disappointment of losing the UEFA Cup final to Shakhtar Donetsk two weeks ago.

The cup final was also Diego's last game with Bremen, as the influential playmaker will be playing for Juventus starting next season.

Mesut Ozil scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute.

The trophy is the fifth for Bremen under the guidance of current coach Thomas Schaaf.

The 48-year-old won two German Cups, one League Cup and a Bundesliga title since he took over Bremen in 1999.
