Italy keeper Gianluigi Buffon expressed his wishes to see his country go all the way in the Confederations Cup despite the competition's irrelevance compared to other big events.

The Azzuri, who will be playing in the Confederations Cup for the first time as World champions will face Brazil, Egypt and the United States in Group B.

"This competition is not like the World Cup or the Euros in terms of value, but we want to do well and we will aim to win," Buffon told Juventus' official website.

The 31-year-old considered that Italy won't have an easy task on their hands when they play in the Confederations Cup.

"We will be playing some of the strongest teams in the world," the former Parma guardian added.

The Confederations Cup will be held in South Africa between June 14th and 28th.
