Real Madrid newly-elected president Florentino Perez said that he won't ruin his club's ties with Manchester United in order to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real unsuccessfully did their utmost to lure the Portuguese last summer, and Perez's re-election as chairman increased suggestions that the club will make a new bid for Ronaldo.

"If one day there is a chance of Ronaldo playing for Real Madrid, that would be an honour for us," Perez told The Times.

"But if I had to choose between the friendship with Manchester United and the signing of Ronaldo, I would choose the friendship."

Perez was the man behind Real's Galacticos team, which included Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo, David Beckham and Ronaldo among their ranks between 2000 and 2006.

Real are already in the hunt to land former world player of the year Kaka from AC Milan and Perez is confident that the deal will only be concluded with the Italians'' consent.

"If we sign Kaka from Milan, I can assure you that we will still have a very good relationship with the club's vice president Adriano Galliani," he added.
