Italy boss Marcello Lippi is taking the Azzurri's FIFA Confederations Cup match with Egypt seriously, saying the Pharaohs have shown what they are made of in their 4-3 defeat to Brazil.

The African champions lost to the Samba Dancers with dignity on Monday, after Kaka notched a late winner from a spot kick.

Egypt are facing Italy in the quadrennial competition on Thursday, and another loss for Hassan Shehata's team would shatter their qualification hopes.

"Egypt are an expert team given the average age of their players and they run plenty," Lippi told Sky Sport Italia.

"Egypt showed an excellent organization of play against Brazil, but I also think the Selecao have paid the price of physically (getting into) shape as they have only been here a few days."

Egypt lie third in Group B on goal difference, while USA are languishing at the bottom after losing 3-1 to leaders Italy on Monday.
