Walid Soliman's pleas to join Ahli did not bear fruit as Petrojet insisted on Wednesday they would keep hold of him.

"Soliman will stay with us. This is our final decision," Petrojet football director Mounir Kamel told FilGoal.com.

"We believe that he is an indispensable member of our squad so we can't let him go."

Ahli have held a long-term interest in the talented playmaker but couldn't tempt Petrojet into selling him.

The Egyptian champions sought to lure him to Cairo to have a back-up for star Mohamed Abou-Treika, whose season was plagued by injuries.

Soliman has made no secret of his desire to join the Cairo giants. In a live interview two weeks ago, he pleaded with Petrojet board to accept Ahli's offer.

But it seems he will not be able to fulfill his aim. "The player has accepted our decision, there are no problems," Kamel added.

Soliman impressed in the Egyptian league's first half last term but suffered a dip in form after moving to Jeddah-based side Ahli on a six-month loan deal.

He lost his Egypt spot after failing to put in convincing displays in the Saudi League.
