Zamalek newly-signed Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Ayew stressed that he made the right decision by joining the Egyptian Premier League side.

Ayew has been dubbed by many the new Michael Essien and Ghanaian media were not happy to see him joing Zamalek rather than sign for a European club.

"People think when you move to certain countries that you are finished but it is not always the case," Ayew was quoted as saying by the Ghanafa.com.

"I prefer to use Prince Tagoe as the example. He went to Saudi Arabia and many said it wasn't a good move but he shinned there and is now in Germany with Hoffenheim."

Local media said that Junior Agogo's failed experience with Zamalek should have made Ayew think twice before moving to the White Knights.

However, Ayew is convinced that playing in Egypt will be the way to securing a place in a top European side.

"Everything will depend on my hard work in Cairo and maybe if I do well, I will eventually get my dream move to Europe because that is what I really want."
