Egypt coach Hassan Shehata stressed that his team went to the FIFA Confederations Cup to compete for the prestigious title.

After honourably losing 4-3 to Brazil in Group B's opening game, the Pharaohs will meet world champions Italy on Thursday.

"We didn’t come to South Africa just to take part. We came here to win the title," Shehata said.

"I told my players that we have to beat Italy in order to make the semis, and I'm confident we are capable of achieving such goal."

The Master added that he's set to make some tactical changes against Italy, as he believes the Azzuri's style of play is totally different from the Brazilians'.

Egypt are currently third in Group B on goal difference over USA, who were beaten by Italy 3-1 on Monday.
