Brazil have become the second team at the FIFA Confederations Cup to be robbed, according to Selecao spokesman Rodrigo Paiva.

The media officer announced after the Samba Dancers' 3-0 win over Italy on Sunday that Brazil's physical therapist Odir Carmo had a jacket stolen from his hotel room in addition to some cash.

"Our defender Kleber also thinks that he has had money stolen from him and the other players are looking into their situation," Paiva said.

"The hotel informed us that they are investigating."

Last weekend, Egypt skipper Ahmed Hassan reported the theft of some wallets from his teammates' hotel rooms.

But Later on, some local papers reported that the Egyptians spent the night with hired hookers at the hotel, suggesting that they had stolen the players' personal possessions before leaving.

The accused players and Egypt coach Hassan Shehata categorically denied the allegation shortly after, and now the burglary of the Brazilian team have further exonerated the Pharaohs.

Both incidents are widely expected to once again raise a debate over South Africa's ability to host next year's World Cup.

The country's high crime rate has been the subject of concern since FIFA announced that the World Cup would take place in Africa for the first time in the tournament's history.
