The three-time Bundesliga winning coach was reunited with his two assistants as well as fitness and rehabilitation coaches.

"Taking such measures and then announcing them is never easy," Magath was quoted as saying by the German League official website.

"I would nevertheless ask for understanding with regard to my wish to continue working together with my long-term associates here at Schalke.

"I'm confident this is the personnel line-up that can bring us success in the future."

Magath was named Schalke manager this summer after leading Wolfsburg to a historic Bundesliga title.

He is looking forward to clinching his fourth league trophy, after guiding Bayern Munich to two successive domestic doubles in 2005 and 2006.
