"Mostafa has agreed in principle to move to Zamalek.," the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told FilGoal.com.
"We've offered him an EGP800,000 as an annual salary. He will make his final decision on Saturday and I don't think there will be any problems.
"This salary is negotiable because that transfer will not cost the club anything."
Mostafa is set to join Zamalek on a free transfer after Ahli deemed him surplus to requirements.
"We preferred to let him go because he wouldn't have been able to play on a regular basis," Ahli coach Hossam Al-Badri said.
Zamalek are overhauling their midfield after failing to find a reliable player in that position during the past few years.
They released veteran midfielder Mohamed Aboul-Ella and brought in Ghanaian international Ibrahim Ayew and Ahmed Tharwat, who joined from second-division side Rabat.
Hassan could become the latest player to play for Cairo duo Ahli and Zamalek.
The past decade saw the likes of Hossam Hassan and Ibrahim Hassan, Felix Aboagye, Islam Al-Shater, Moataz Eno and Ibrahim Saied play for the fierce rivals.
