Milan's failure to land Edin Dzeko from Wolfsburg has prompted them to go for Adebayor, who has long been on the Rossoneri's radar.

"We have made an offer to Wolfsburg for Dzeko and it was refused," Galliano told Sky Sport 24.

"Adebayor is the alternative. I have already made a telephone call to Arsenal," he added.

In addition to Milan's interest, 25-year-old Adebayor is also being targeted by Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Togolese international scored 62 goals for Arsenal since he joined the Gunners from AS Monaco in 2006.
