Zidan set for Egypt return

Dortmund manager Michael Zorc confirmed that Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan will stay and play for the club next season.

The 27-year-old forward shone while playing for the Pharaohs in the Confederations Cup, where he scored twice in his country's 4-3 loss to Brazil.

Zidan's display caught interest from Premiership club Blackburn Rovers, who were reportedly willing to pay seven million Euros for his services.

"It is true that Blackburn contacted me, but Zidan himself stressed that he doesn’t want to leave Dortmund," Zorc told Bild.

"His departure was never an issue. We always knew that he will be with us next season, and now we are waiting for his return from international duty."

Despite Egypt's elimination from the Confederations Cup, Zidan will be part of the national team that will face Rwanda in a World Cup qualifier on July 5th.

The former Mainz man has scored six goals for Dortmund since joining the Black Yellows from Hamburg last summer.
