The European champions' stunning 2-0 defeat to the United States in the semi final not only eliminated them, but also ended their record run of 15 consecutive victories.

"We're annoyed and we're hurt, but this is sport and sportsmen have to know how to react after a setback," Spain coach Vicente del Bosque said.

Spain, who also failed to stretch their unbeaten run to a record 36 games, can not afford another embarrassing defeat.

"I want to end this tournament with a win," Spain striker Fernando Torres said.

South Africa made history by booking a last-four berth and looked capable of springing a huge surprise against Brazil.

However, the five-time world champions managed to reach the final after claiming a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Bafana Bafana, thanks to a late free-kick by Daniel Alves.

South Africa can still finish the tournament in the best possible way by overcoming Spain, who had the upper hand in the two teams' group-stage meeting, winning 2-0.

"This is an important competition, so the motivation should be the same as it was in the first match," South Africa coach Joel Santana said.

"This is a preparation for the World Cup, so the players should be motivated to play against the big teams. I need them to play the same for me."

Del Bosque and Santana have fully-fit squads to choose from in Sunday's tie.
