Ahli skipper Ahmed Al-Sayed vowed not to lose his temper again after receiving a straight red card in his side's 2-0 defeat to Harras Hodoud in the Egyptian Super Cup.

The central defender was sent off nine minutes before the break for elbowing Hodoud forward Ahmed Eid in retaliation after the latter shoved him few minutes earlier.

Hodoud capitalized on Ahli's numerical disadvantage to win their first ever Super Cup and their second trophy in history.

"I want to apologize for all Ahli fans for what happened," Al-Sayed, who wore the captain's armband following the summer departure of Shadi Mohamed, told Al-Hayat TV on Friday.

"I shouldn't have done that. I promise that I will never act like that again."

Al-Sayed, who was to blame for Hodoud's opener, was also sent off in Ahli's 2-0 defeat to German side Bayer Leverkusen in a pre-season friendly.
