A late header by substitute Jake Livermore earned Tottenham Hotspur a 1-1 draw with a second-string Barcelona side in the Wembley Cup on Friday.

Barca coach Josep Guardiola opted to leave the likes of Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry and Xavi out of the game.

Youngster Bojan Krkic, one of few familiar faces in Barcelona's starting line-up, gave the Catalans the lead after 32 minutes.

A darting run by Ivorian midfielder Yaya Toure beat two men but he couldn't elude the last defender.

Bojan pounced on the loose ball to send a low shot past Tottenham keeper Carlo Cudicini.

Livermore, 19, restored parity seven minutes from time when he rose unmarked to head home Benoit Assou-Ekotto's left-wing cross.

The pre-season tournament's opener saw Scottish giants Celtic overwhelm Egyptian champions Ahli 5-0 earlier in the day.

Tottenham will face Celtic while Barcelona will meet Ahli on Sunday in the final Wembley Cup games.
