The new deal means that the 32-year-old, who played his first professional game for Roma in 1992, will spend the rest of his career at the eternal city.

Totti was full of praise and appreciation for Roma president Rosaella Sensi, citing her as the main reason behind him signing the new contract.

"I want to thank Rosella for having believed in me once again and for extending my contract with Roma for five years," he said.

"This will give me the chance to beat some more records."

Totti is Roma's all time scorer with 178 goals in all competitions.
