L'OM said that the 31-year-old Argentine will soon have a medical in Marseille before signing a contract with the club.

Heinze is set for his second spell in France, following a three-year bout with Paris Saint-Germain from 2001 to 2004.

Marseille have reinforced their squad with some impressive signings this summer, including Senegal's Souleymane Diawara, Argentine Lucho Gonzalez and Spanish veteran Fernando Morientes.
