Zamalek said on Friday they were not ready to improve their contract offer for Ismaili defender Sherif Abdul-Fadil.

Ismaili accepted on Thursday Zamalek's EGP seven-million bid to sign the 26-year-old but the Cairo giants were unable to agree personal terms with him.

The deal is now in jeopardy.

"The club made a move for Abdul-Fadil after becoming 100% sure that he wanted to join it," Zamalek said in a statement on their official website.

"But his requests were unacceptable, thus the club are not willing to engage in more discussions with the player.

"The club will not improve its offer even if that means that the deal may collapse."

FilGoal.com has learnt that Zamalek have offered Abdul-Fadil an annual salary of EGP 900,000, whereas he demands EGP1.5 million.

It remains to be seen whether Zamalek's arch-rivals Ahli, who had an offer turned down by Ismaili, will step in once again to snap up the combative defender.
