The Brazilian earned 331 votes in a poll conducted by German magazine kicker.

The 30-year-old, who joined Wolfsburg from French side Le Mans in 2007, scored 28 goals in 25 appearances to finish as the top scorer and lead his side to their first ever league title.

Germany striker Mario Gomez, who joined Bayern Munich from Stuttgart this summer, came second with 171 votes.

Edin Dzeko, who also contributed to Wolfsburg's triumphant campaign after scoring 26 goals, came third with 169.
