Zamalek new boy Mido is eager to repay Whites' fans after receiving an overwhelming reception upon his return to the club.

The Egypt striker joined Zamalek on season-long loan from Middlesbrough, following nine years of plying his trade in Europe.

Mido, who left Zamalek as a teenager, was warmly welcomed by more than 2000 Zamalek fans upon arriving at Cairo airport.

He was then greeted by supporters at the club's training ground, where he was presented with the White shirt for the first time.

Fans

Mido highlighted the role of Zamalek fans in his decision to make a comeback to the Egyptian Premier League after a long spell with some of Europe's top teams.

"When I entered the club's gate I realized that I owe Zamalek fans because I left when I was too young," Mido told reporters.

"I didn’t expect this reception. I have to say that the decision of leaving Europe after so many years was difficult, but it was the fans that eased it for me."

Zaki Case

Mido ensured that his relationship with former Wigan mate Amr Zaki is better than ever, stressing that he conditioned the Bulldozer's stay before accepting Zamalek's offer.

"There is no problem with Zaki," added the 26-year-old, who was accompanied by Zaki to salute fans at Helmi Zamora stadium.

"I insisted that Zaki stays when Zamalek approached me. He is a high-profile player and I am sure we'll form a great partnership

"I think he will help me succeed and I promise fans to bring trophies to the club."

National Team

Finally, Mido is hoping to regain his place in the Egypt roster after missing out on several occasions recently.

"I think that returning to Zamalek will help me re-join the national team. I believe my chances are better from here," he concluded.

Mido's fitness problems with Boro last season prompted Egypt coach Hassan Shehata to keep him out of his plans in recent months.

However, Shehata implied that the door is wide open for the ex-Tottenham hitman if he regained his form.
