Lippi was forced to omit Gattuso for his roster, but Roma ace Daniele De Rossi has returned.

However, Lippi decided to overlook Fiorentina's Riccardo Montolivo, Sampdoria's Antonio Cassano and Juventus' Alessandro Del Piero.
