The young pharaohs, who played in front of a sell-out crowd at the 80,000-seat Egyptian Army Stadium in Alexandria, produced a ruthless display to brush aside Trinidad.

Afroto gave Egypt the lead in the first half but his goal was cancelled out by Trinidad's Jean Luc Rochford nine minutes before the break.

A brace from defensive midfielder Hossam Arafat either side of Mohamed Talaat's goal in the second period handed the tournament hosts all three points.

"We have very high ambitions," striker Afroto told Arab Radio and Television (ART) after the game.

"We play one match at a time but are focused on winning the title," the Ahli man, whose speedy runs bamboozled Trinidad defense, added.

Defender Ahmed Hegazi echoed his teammate's sentiment, saying that the players will do their utmost to reward Egyptian fans for their huge support.

"When we saw the huge number of supporters today we pledged to win the tournament," he said.
