ENPPI allayed their African woes with a convincing 2-1 home victory over Harras Hodoud in the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday.

Diaa Al-Sayed's team exited the African Confederation Cup on Monday after a 6-4 aggregate defeat to Stade Malien in the semi final to miss out on the chance of becoming the first Egyptian team to win Africa's secondary competition.

They made light of their elimination though, putting in a fine display to overcome Hodoud, who were also playing in the Confederation Cup but failed to get beyond the group stage.

Ivorian striker Zeka Goore gave them the lead midway through the first half when Hodoud keeper Mathurin Kameni misjudged a corner to allow him to head into an empty net.

Central midfielder Adel Mostafa converted a penalty on 58 minutes to double ENPPI's advantage after Hodoud defender Ahmed Assem handled in the area.

Hodoud striker Ahmed Abdul-Ghani headed in a consolation in stoppage time.

ENPPI, Egyptian Cup winners in 2005, moved into fifth spot with 10 points and two games in hand.

They can narrow the gap with leaders Ahli to just one point if they win their remaining games.

Hodoud, who have a game in hand, are seventh with nine points.
