"I'm very sad at what happened from the crowd. I served Zamalek for many years so I do not deserve this," Aboul-Ella told FilGoal.com after the game.

"They kept insulting me throughout the game but I will remain focused on giving my all to Production."

The 29-year-old midfielder was jeered in the dying minutes of Production's 3-2 defeat to Zamalek after a quarrel with striker Sayed Mosaad.

Players from both sides intervened to calm things down but the matter escalated after the final whistle.

"Mosaad's action was unacceptable. He was playing in the youth team when I captained Zamalek so he should have respected me," Aboul-Ella added.

Aboul-Ella, who came through Zamalek's youth ranks, left the club in the close season after they opted not to offer him a new contract.

Zamalek raced onto a three-goal lead in the first half but Production, who narrowed the gap with two goals including a stoppage-time strike, were unlucky not to secure a share of spoils.

They squandered a host of clear-cut opportunities and were frustrated by Zamalek keeper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed, who thwarted numerous chances in the second half.

"I can say that Zamalek were lucky tonight," Production assistant coach Tarek Mostafa, a former Zamalek player, told Modern Sport.

"We deserved to get a draw at least."
