Egypt chief medic Ahmed Maged played down reports claiming that Hosni Abd-Rabou would miss Egypt's World Cup qualifier against Algeria through injury.

The Ahli Dubai ace was stretchered off in his club's 1-1 draw with Sharjah in the UAE League on Saturday after falling down all of a sudden with no challengers in close proximity only after 17 minutes.

Initial diagnosis indicated that he sustained a negligible ankle injury, which will keep him on the sidelines only for a week.

However, Emirati paper Al-Bayan quoted Ahli Dubai chief doctor Abdul-Hamid Al-Ataar as saying that Abd-Rabou needed around three weeks to overcome 'severe ankle ligaments damage'.

But Maged quickly reassured the Egyptian fans by reiterating that the 24-year-old will definitely be ready for the game.

"I'm in constant contact with my counterpart at Ahli Dubai Abdul-Hamid Al-Ataar, who assured me that Abd-Rabou's condition is not worrying at all," Maged told FilGoal.com.

"No one from the Emirati club told me that Abd-Rabou's injury will prevent him from playing against Algeria as reported.

"Abd-Rabou has been treated competently by Ahli's medical staff, whom I would like to thank for their magnificent efforts."
