Michael Owen said he is focusing on doing well for Manchester United rather than thinking about a return to England fold.

The injury-plagued striker, who played in three successive World Cups, has been consistently overlooked by England coach Fabio Capello.

He moved to Manchester United in the close season but is yet to become a regular starter at Old Trafford, undermining his chances of earning an England call-up ahead of next year's World Cup finals in South Africa.

"England is something I don't really think about," Owen was quoted as saying by Sky Sports on Tuesday.

"It is probably something people talk about a lot more than I think about really.

"The last squad I was in was over a year ago now. I have played for England 89 times and I would love to play for England again.

"But I am concentrating on playing for Manchester United. I genuinely go to bed thinking that I have got to play well the next day and win games for Manchester United, not that if I score or play well I might get picked for England."

The 29-year-old Owen, who also played for Liverpool and Real Madrid in his career, scored 40 goals in 89 appearances with the Three Lions.
