Buffon, 31, made his Italy debut in 1997 when he was called up for a World Cup playoff game against Russia and was introduced as a substitute.

"I must say I would've aspired for an easier debut!" the Juventus custodian was quoted by Fooball Italia as saying.

"We were in a World Cup playoff, plus the weather did not help us.

"I had said it was the one game I wouldn't want to play in and I had to!"
