The Algerian fans attacked and injured a number of Egypt's delegation members and fans in Sudan after Algeria beat Egypt 1-0 in Wednesday's World Cup playoff game.

FilGoal.com reporter said that the Algerian hooligans hurled stones on the buses that should have transported the Egyptians to Khartoum Airport, and the vehicles were completely destroyed.

The Egyptian players were escorted to their hotel by the Sudanese forces, and they are understood to be safe for the time being.

On the other hand, several Egyptian fans were taken to hideouts till the situation is contained.

However, others remained exposed to the madness of the Algerian football fanatics.

"I had my head injured and I found no one to treat me, so I had to bandage up my head with a shirt," an Egyptian woman told Egyptian TV from Sudan.

The Egyptians are currently prohibited from entering the airport except from one gate, which made them more vulnerable.

"A lot of Egyptian fans ran, while others got in private cars to escape," Ahli's board member Mohamed Abdul-Wahab said.

"There are no police officers near the airport, and Gate 17 is the only one opened. It's really inhumane."
