الاهلى الزمالك

Ahli's deputy football director Emad Al-Nahas sounded his disgruntlement with Tuesday's goalless draw with Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League.

"Ahli lost two points, while Zamalek won one through this draw," he told Modern TV after the the 104th Cairo derby.

"We are topping the league table. We wanted to claim all three points to cement our place at the summit.

"On the other hand, the draw ended Zamalek's losing streak in the league."

The White Knights, who lie 13th with 12 points, lost to Police Union, Ghazl Mahalla and Harras Hodoud on the trot before drawing with Ahli. Zamalek lost six games overall.

Leaders Ahli are now on 28 points, with closest rivals Gaish four points behind.

Praise for Shoukri

Apart from the Cairo derby's result, Al-Nahas dished out praise for Ahli youngster Ahmed Shoukri, whose recent performances were evidently promising.

"He was one of the best players in the game, although he was playing against Zamalek for the first time," the former Ahli man said.

"Shoukri is a very good player indeed. He was calm throughout the game and precisely followed Hossam Al-Badri's instructions."

Egypt U-20 star Shoukri was deployed as an attacking midfielder, and produced a praiseworthy display against Zamalek.

The up-and-coming forward was about notch a goal in the first period, but his header went wide of the mark.
